Tunga Lyft has been entrusted with the task of lifting and transporting the Johanna statue in Brunnsparken ahead of its renovation.
Many of us have met at “Johanna” but few know that she has been looking out from her spot since 1833 and that she is Gothenburg’s first female statue.
After more than six months with the conservator, Johanna is together with the pigeons in Brunnsparken again. Remains were found in the foundations of an ironworks dating back to before the city was founded, there is info about it in previous GP reports when we removed her after 150 years.
Johanna weighs 1700kg and stands on a 6 meter high column, we used a crane truck and jib for a joint lift. Getting Johanna back in place required great precision as the statue is richly decorated with ornaments.
There were many spectators at the event who watched the successful reassembly with excitement.
