Skövde municipality and the Swedish Transport Administration are working to improve access to the Hentorp södra residential area. We at Tunga Lyft had to help with a bridge launch…
The work involves improving the Heneporten, which is a road gate for the municipal road under the Western Main Line. The aim is to make it easier to get to and from the existing residential area Hentorp södra, as the municipality has planned for 100 new homes in the area.
Launch for less traffic disruption
To minimize the impact on train traffic, the new bridge will be built as a stand-alone structure next to the existing one. At the weekend, traffic on the Western Main Line was then completely shut down to demolish the old bridge, and then launch the new one.
When we launch a bridge, we first lay out so-called launch paths as far as the bridge will be moved. Then we place roller carriages with jacks on them underneath cast heels on the bridge itself. Once we have lifted the bridge with the jacks, we use pushers that use the heels of the lances to push the bridge forward. We then move about 1 meter at a time, before having to take a new step and press a new heel further on.
As you can see, launching is no stranger to us at Tunga Lyft. We have everything from small easy-to-handle systems to equipment that can handle loads of up to 30,000 tons.
